Bishop David I. Hartman
His Eminence, The Right Reverend Dr. David I. Hartman, serves as the Bishop of Protocol and General Executive Secretary to the Kingdom Five Fold Covenant Fellowship. In addition he is the Presiding Prelate of Azusa Christian Temple of Salvation, Babylon, New York. He has served as National Administrative Overseer to the Revelation Churches of God In Christ, Inc. Moreover, he has served as Chief Executive Pastor of Rhema Christian Center. In October 2002, he was appointed as Protestant Chaplain for the Taxi and Limousine Commission of The City of New York. In August, 2002, he retired from the New York Police Department, after twenty-one years of service.
Bishop served as Director of the Clergy Crisis Responder Program, for The City of New York, under the Mayoral administration of The Honorable Rudolph W. Giuliani. This directorship governed the spiritual care component and management of a team of clerics from varied denominational backgrounds and support staff from the New York City Police Department, whose overall mandate was to provide City-Wide spiritual care and support to those who were impacted by the World Trade Center attack. This initiative was implemented after the tragedy, and has since served as a national model for Spiritual Care.
In April of 2002, he was featured in his dual role as cleric and law enforcement professional in a Christian Broadcast Network presentation entitled, “Courage; Helping Kids Cope with Fear and Grief,” which has been distributed and aired nation wide. In addition, Bishop Hartman has been featured in Christian periodicals and has been interviewed as a special guest on several Christian radio and television networks around the country and in England and South America.
In February of 2002, he received a Commendation from the Comptroller of The City of New York, and was the recipient of the Spirit of a Hero award from the West Angeles Church of God In Christ, Los Angeles, California, stemming from his leadership role in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack.
Driven to improve the reading skills of young children, Bishop Hartman has served as a mentor for the Everybody Wins Reading Foundation, and Project Business; Junior Achievement. He served two terms as Bronx Council Commissioner for the Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America, in New York City.
He received his education from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. He is a graduate of Full Gospel Bible College. In May of 2004, he received his Family Development Credential from Cornell University. In addition, he holds a Doctorate of Divinity and a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Northwestern University.
